Base salary: $82,000+ Compensation based on skills and experience

We are looking for a senior litigation paralegal to join the team and work within our busy litigation practice. As a growing and dynamic firm, we are eager to hear from qualified applicants like you who are interested in joining our friendly and collaborative Vancouver office.

Our ideal candidate is self-motivated and highly organized and has superior time management skills as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. We are also looking for that candidate who has the ability to work independently, has excellent attention to deal, can follow instructions with minimal supervision and who thrives in a fast-paced, professional team environment, while providing superior customer service to our clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and calendaring a large number of legal file deadlines including:
    • Diarizing files for Lawyers
    • Maintaining personal diarization system and limitation dates for each individual file, as necessary
  • Working with lawyer in the flow of work of paralegal nature and making efforts to ensure paralegal duties are completed as required
  • Preparing claims, process server forms, skip traces, default judgments
  • Preparing and completing precedents for collections and foreclosures
  • Preparing Bill of Costs, calculating post judgment interest
  • Reviewing files regularly and following up on requirements
  • Preparing post judgment enforcements including garnishments, sheriff sales, bailiffs
  • Drafting legal correspondence and documents
  • Filing documents with the Court
  • Calculating post judgment balances
  • Assembling information for cases in which legal action is indicated
  • Taking payments from debtors and posting to the client account
  • Arranging settlement with debtors
  • Communicating professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing

Qualifications include:

  • Graduate of a recognized legal assistant program and/or paralegal program (equivalencies will be considered)
  • Minimum of five years of paralegal experience, preferably in litigation or collections work
  • A Commissioner of Oaths preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and document management software
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize a workload
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience drafting legal correspondence and court documents
  • Ability to use online resources such as Collect Link, Techcom and Litigation Highway
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong client service focus and effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read analyze credit bureau, bank applications and credit agreements
  • Knowledge of business loans and enforcement
  • Motivated and self-driven with the ability to work independently
