About the job
• Research and complete title searches • Process acquisition, sale, lease and other agreements • Complete the conveyance of real estate transactions • Perform expropriation procedures • Maintain an accurate electronic land inventory • Investigate and analyze property tax status and assessed values of land inventory and initiate corrective action
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You have valid class G driver's licence and an acceptable driving record to travel independently to areas not served by public transportation.
Technical Real Estate Knowledge:
• You have through knowledge of Ontario real-estate practices • You are able to interpret and apply legal terminology, regulations and legislation (e.g. Land Registration Reforms Act, Expropriations Act, Registry Act, Business Corporations Act) • You have an understanding of the expropriation process and procedures • You are able to carry out title searching and processing agreements including transfer of lands using technology • You can plot boundaries of land from legal descriptions.
Analytical and Investigation Skills:
• You have investigative skills to review and interpret abstracts, reference plans, expropriation plans, assumption plans and other legal and real estate plans • You have evaluation skills to determine if agreements have been properly executed, witnessed and sealed • You have analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies and deficiencies • You can review data and documents for accuracy including legal descriptions, tax certificates, affidavits, recitals, releases, and consents, and you can ensure unencumbered title is acquired. • You are proficient with computers and computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet and database (e.g. MS Office and Teraview)
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You have strong written communication skills to compose letters, public notices, legal documents and reports • You are able to communicate with legal professionals, municipalities and government agencies using legal terminology • You are able to respond to requisitions from lawyers in order to finalize the conveyance of real property • You have interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships
