Immigration Law Clerk- Full Time

Who are we looking for?

We are currently seeking a Law Clerk for our Immigration Law department. This position will require you to provide administrative support to the Immigration Law department.

  • Post-secondary education (Law Clerk/ Legal Assistant/Paralegal), ILCO Clerk Accreditation or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 Years relevant experience in robust office environment, and/or sound working knowledge in this area.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high demand office
  • Experience working in a law firm is an asset
  • Above average interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to be proactive and follow through.
  • Superior communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work to deadlines
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Strong client service skills, and finally
  • Above average keyboarding/computer skills (primarily Word, Adobe and Outlook)

General tasks

  • Opening/Closing files
  • Organizing and maintaining files
  • Communication with clients
  • General administrative tasks
  • Research
  • Drafting application materials and client letters

Additional Tasks

  • Drafting retainer agreements
  • Drafting forms
  • Submitting written court records requests and following up on requests
  • Monthly billings and expense submissions

Personal qualities are as important as professional qualifications when working with this team. You must be a team-player, reliable, empathetic to the situations of others, and able to maintain a positive outlook. Interacting with all levels of the firm, you possess a high level of tact and integrity when dealing with exposure to confidential information. You have the ability to multi-task through multiple interruptions in our fast-paced practice but maintain self-motivation during off-peak times.
