Lerners is seeking a Law Clerk to support the Real Estate and Land Development practice group in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience working in a similar position. This is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days in office or as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preparing real estate transactions for closing, with a particular emphasis on new home residential sales, condominium sales, commercial and private mortgages acting for the borrower;
  • Experience with the registration of subdivisions and condominiums and associated new home/condo sales would be an asset;
  • Ordering title and off-title searches, corporate searches and municipal reports when deals are firm;
  • Ordering payout statements on sale & mortgage files;
  • Finalizing reports - to clients and financial institutions;
  • Following up on undertakings and outstanding items on files;
  • Detailed file organization - paper and electronic filing;
  • Maintaining an effective BF system;
  • Communicating with clients and other professionals by phone and email;
  • Strong knowledge of Unity and Teraview;
  • Drafting correspondence, preparing accounts, depositing cash receipts, paying invoices, collection of accounts receivable;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in residential and commercial real estate transaction experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new subject matter and skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Teraview and the requirements of Teraview with respect to title and Unity matters.
  • College diploma or university degree in related field an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
