Paralegal

Main Responsibilities:

· knowledge of Small Claims Court proceedings and enforcement such as garnishments examinations, etc.

· In depth knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and the Landlord and Tenant Board proceedings

· Collection of outstanding accounts including preparing legal applications such as L1, L2, L10 applications etc.

· Manage escalated legal cases from start to finish

· Communicating with past and current tenants to discuss repayment of outstanding accounts

· Deal with highly confidential information in a secure environment

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

· Must hold a P1 Paralegal license in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

· Minimum 5 years experience of dealing with Landlord and Tenant matters

· Exceptional oral and written communication skills

· Able to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and take initiative using sound judgment

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

· Must have excellent problem-solving skills

· Professionalism demonstrated with colleagues, clients both in person and conversing by phone

· Strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading, attention to detail and accuracy are a must

· Demonstrated commitment to privacy and ethical conduct
