Legal Services provides a comprehensive and complex range of legal services to elected officials, all City of Ottawa departments, and various boards and commissions (i.e. Ottawa Police Services Board, Ottawa Community Land Development Corporation and the Ottawa Public Library), in the areas of civil litigation, labour and employment law, prosecutions, and corporate, municipal, planning, development, environmental, and commercial law.
You are responsible for providing a wide range of legal services concerned with one or more of the following portfolios: real estate matters, including creation of easement rights, acquisition and disposal of land; preparation, execution and registration of land development and other planning-related agreements; preparation and execution of transportation, utility, service and a wide range of other contracts; preparation, review and execution of construction and other contracts and leases; coordination of a broad range of civil litigation matters; collection of outstanding debts against the City; preparation and administration of by-laws.
Completion of 2 year community college Legal Assistant (Law Clerk) diploma or Certification by Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario
Minimum of 6 years of directly related, current legal experience
