We have an exciting opportunity in the Revenue Protection Department! The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is currently hiring for a Coordinator, Court Services.
Reporting to Head, Revenue Protection you will be responsible for providing administrative, legal and performance analytics and support to the Revenue Protection Department as it relates to charges contrary to TTC By-Law No.1, Provincial Offences Act (POA) and Criminal Code offences.
Your role will included not limited to: receiving and processing all court related documentation; acting as Commissioner of Oaths for swearing affidavits and other legal documents for the Revenue Protection Department; maintaining databases and hard-copy records for case tracking, evidence handling, court notifications and other information to support the achievement of successful POA prosecutions within policy, procedures and legislative requirements.
You will supervise, plans and direct the work of the Court Filing Clerk; train and mentor subordinate staff and complete Employee Performance Appraisals.
The selected incumbent of this role receives and processes all charges laid under TTC By-law No. 1, as well as Provincial offences, through the administration and maintenance of computerized databases for information tracking purposes.
Your role coordinates the service of Part I and Part III Provincial Offence Notices (PON) and Part III Summons' to the City Provincial Offences Clerks, and ensures all hardcopy PON's are filed within legislated timelines
You will be responsible for receiving and reviewing requests for disclosure relating to matters before the court in accordance with relevant legislation and established case law; screens, redacts, and vet's disclosure to ensure only appropriate material is released
Your role provides administrative and support services to TTC Prosecutors; prepares daily dockets for prosecution staff by ensuring all relevant material and evidence is present while preparing motions, ensuring service and filing are in accordance with legislative requirements.
As the Coordinator, you will act as (primary) Commissioner of Oaths designated by the Attorney General's Office for swearing affidavits and other legal documents required by the Courts for the section along with tracking and notifying all TTC witnesses including Special Constables, Fare Inspectors, other TTC personnel and external witnesses, by subpoena, notice to parent or written notification for required court appearance.
You will act as a liaison with the Toronto Police Services, Provincial Court Offices, Criminal Court Offices and other organizations for the timely transfer of documentation and information; in addition to responding to general enquiries and refers matters to other section staff where appropriate;
And of course, you will perform related duties as assigned;
