Lerners is seeking a Law Clerk to support the Health Law practice group in the Toronto, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will be newly graduated or have 1-2 years of experience working in a similar position. This is a Hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days in office or as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective BF and follow-up system, including tracking milestone reporting;
  • Draft reporting letters;
  • Communicate with plaintiff and co-defendant counsel;
  • Manage productions including:
    • Index records in Relativity;
    • Review and summarize records;
    • Manage medical and other records in Relativity;
    • Draft affidavits of documents;
  • Identify and retain experts;
  • Draft correspondence to and schedule meetings with experts and prepare materials for their review;
  • Review discovery transcripts and follow up for undertakings;
  • Satisfy client undertakings;
  • All aspects of Trial and Regulatory Hearing preparation;
  • Draft all closing documents;
  • Assist with budgets and fee estimates;
  • Arrange independent medical evaluations/assessments; and
  • Arrange surveillance.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience is preferred.
  • Experience in Health Law is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Relativity and ACL is an asset.
  • A keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • The ability to work effectively on a team and individually.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with technology and working in a remote/ hybrid environment.
