JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer, you will use your specialized knowledge to support the expansion of SE Health's Legal Department work as a part of a dedicated team to address a variety of corporate/commercial, litigation, and regulatory matters in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Corporate/Commercial Support

  • Review and draft various contracts to address SE Health business needs
  • Support implementation of contract life cycle management solutions, including ongoing contract reviews and monitoring
  • Assist in development and maintenance of contract database
  • Support internal/external audits
  • Perform corporate governance administrative tasks, including drafting, reviewing and updating of corporate documents (e.g., minute books, resolutions)

Litigation Support

  • Support activities relating to litigation matters including document production, claims tracking and reporting
  • Collaborate with internal and external counsel to manage litigation matters
  • Assist in development and maintenance of claims database
  • Conduct legal research, as required

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ongoing monitoring of regulatory changes affecting SE Health policies and procedures
  • Assist with drafting and implementing SE Health policies, as required
  • Provide guidance on legal compliance requirements for proposed and ongoing SE Health initiatives, as required
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized paralegal program
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in a paraprofessional capacity
  • Previous experience in a health setting is preferred
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, including attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority tasks while working in a busy, rapidly-changing work environment
  • Ability to take initiative and to demonstrate resourcefulness in work assignments
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Experience with contract life cycle management solutions is preferred
  • Knowledge of health care and/or health care terminology is an asset

This role is a hybrid and may require travel to our Markham or Toronto office as needed
